GlamWhite Teeth Whitening Kits are a quick and simple way to improve your smile if you’re dissatisfied with the shade of your teeth. But they are just one of many brands offering at-home whitening solutions in the UK, and it can be confusing trying to work out which is right for you.

In this GlamWhite teeth whitening kit review, we’re going to talk through some key information, including:

  • Some brief details about the company
  • What you get in the GlamWhite Elite and Standard kits
  • Whether GlamWhite is safe
  • What kind of results you can expect
  • How they compare to others available in the UK

We hope this helps you decide on the right solution for whitening your teeth.

What is GlamWhite?

Find out if GlamWhite teeth whitening kits could get you the results you want

Founded in the USA, GlamWhite makes a range of teeth whitening products including kits and pens. The company has partnered with the dentist Dr Christian Yaste. He is a practising dentist from North Carolina, USA, who promotes their range.

The company that owns GlamWhite has been operating in the UK since 2011, and looking at their website you’d be forgiven for thinking it hasn’t been updated since then. With little to no social media presence for their UK operations either, it doesn’t exactly feel like a modern brand offering cutting-edge products.

They may not have the best marketing strategy in the world, but what about their products? We’re focusing on their whitening kits here, but you can also buy a whitening pen for touch-ups and a kind of foaming toothpaste.

The whitening gel used in the kits is made in the USA. When it comes to safety, this is an important point to note – you know all of the ingredients have been fully tested and conform to strict regulations. The formula has been made in consultation with Dr Yaste, and the website claims the result is at “the vanguard of home teeth whitening”.

There are three kits we’ll talk about in our GlamWhite teeth whitening review, namely:

  • GlamWhite Home Whitening Kit
  • GlamWhite Home Whitening Kit Elite
  • GlamWhite Pre-Filled Whitening Trays

So if you’re wondering whether to purchase any of these, we hope this information helps you decide.

GlamWhite review – Our overall rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5 stars)

In each of the three products we listed above, the whitening formula and the way it works is pretty much the same. Each product is presented slightly differently and has pros and cons depending on what matters to you in terms of ease of use, results, and sustainability.

Kit contents ★★★☆☆ (3/5 stars)

Inside a standard GlamWhite teeth whitening kit, you get:

Only the Elite kit comes with an LED attachment
  • A pair of mouldable mouth trays
  • A single 10ml syringe of whitening gel
  • A shade guide so you can see your progress
  • A storage case
  • A pillow box to keep it all in

The LEDs don’t have any whitening effect themselves, but they do speed up the process by accelerating the whitening agents in the gel. You do get an LED activator light when you spend an extra £23 on the GlamWhite Elite kit (pictured).

The 10ml of gel should last you 10-14 applications when used on the top and bottom teeth. You can’t buy any refills from GlamWhite, which is a big downside compared to many other kits on the market. If you want to whiten your teeth again, you’ll have to buy an entirely new kit, which is not great for your wallet or for the environment.

If you’re not keen on the idea of moulding your own trays, the pre-filled trays could be handy for you. You get 10 trays in the box so you’ll be good for five days and should see a difference of seven shades. There’s no shade guide in the box so it’s not clear how you’d measure your progress.

Ingredients ★★★★☆ (4/5 stars)

The active ingredient in GlamWhite teeth whitening kits is sodium percarbonate. A scientific study which looked at how well it worked for whitening teeth found that “sodium percarbonate had an obvious bleaching effect without hydrogen peroxide”, showing that it does indeed work to whiten teeth.

Also included in the formula is peppermint oil, which should give you a nice fresh taste once you’re finished. The website also says that the gel includes an ingredient to prevent sensitivity and says it’s the same one as used in Sensodyne toothpaste. Sensodyne’s active ingredient is potassium nitrate but this isn’t listed on any ingredient list of GlamWhite.

GlamWhite’s website confirms on numerous occasions that their formula complies with EU regulations and is made in the USA. The EU imposed strict limits on the strength of home whitening kits which aren’t in place in the USA, but you can be sure that what you buy is in line with rules in the UK.

The full ingredient list for GlamWhite’s teeth whitening gel is:

Glycerin, propylene glycol, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, triethanolamine, sodium saccharin, mica, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, sodium carbonate peroxide (sodium percarbonate), CI 77891.

Ease of use ★★★☆☆ (3/5 stars)

For both the GlamWhite and GlamWhite Elite whitening kits, the mouldable trays need to be fitted to your teeth before you start with any whitening. The process goes like this:

led whitening kit glamwhite
LED lights accelerate the whitening process
  1. Bring some water to the boil on the hob and then let it cool for one minute.
  2. Submerge a mouth tray into the water for one to three seconds.
  3. Next, put the tray into your mouth – either your upper or lower jaw – and bite down on it. Leave the tray there until the plastic has hardened again.
  4. Remove the tray from your mouth and repeat for your other jaw.

Next, you squeeze in some of the whitening gel, put the trays over your teeth, and leave them there for 20-30 minutes. With the Elite kit, you also attach the LED light to the trays as they go into your mouth.

It’s all reasonably simple, although making the trays fit can be a bit fiddly. You also need to be careful not to put too much gel in the tray: it can squirt out and damage your gums.

Want to avoid that worry? Using the pre-filled trays will mean that the right amount of gel has been applied and you just need to put the trays over your teeth. They may be a slightly looser fit because they’re a generic size.

GlamWhite teeth whitening kits need 20-30 minutes in your mouth. There are kits on the market that require less than half that time so if you lead a busy life there are better alternatives out there.

Results ★★★☆☆ (3/5 stars)

The degree of whitening you can expect to achieve with GlamWhite will depend on which product you purchase and whether you have very yellow teeth to begin with.

Here are the results that GlamWhite claims you can achieve:

  • Pre-filled trays: up to 7 shades
  • Standard kit: up to 10 shades
  • Elite kit: up to 12 shades
glamwhite elite results
Even at the dentist, 7 shades would be impressive

But is this realistic? If you have done any kind of research into whitening kits, you’ll know these are pretty big claims. Even if you went for professional teeth whitening at the dentist, 7 shades would be a good result, so the idea that you could get your 12 shades whiter with a home whitening kit is quite astounding.

GlamWhite offer “100% guaranteed results” but it’s not at all clear what this means. In their terms and conditions, they say you cannot return the product if you have opened or used it.

GlamWhite also say that you should see results in 1-3 days, and that “99% of people are very satisfied with the results they obtain” with the system. However, it’s worth noting that there is absolutely nothing on their website to substantiate any of their claims regarding results or customer satisfaction.

With the lack of social media and no presence on review sites such as Trustpilot, GlamWhite reviews aren’t easily accessible. They have precisely three before and after pictures on their website, so perhaps you’ll have to use those to judge the results.

GlamWhite Alternatives in the UK

It’s a competitive market in the home teeth whitening business. There are lots of choices out there and new options hitting the market regularly. Not convinced by GlamWhite? Here are a couple of different systems that you can investigate instead.

Snow

glamwhite alternative
Snow has a revolutionary whitening system

Snow has rethought the whole teeth whitening process with their revolutionary system and has even made a mobile app to assist in your journey to a brighter smile.

The price of Snow’s kits may be higher than GlamWhite, but you do get a lot more for your money. The light system is included as standard, you get the high-tech app to track your whitening progress, and you get a whole year’s worth of whitening gel.

Plus, their system gives results in as little as 9 minutes per day and you paint the gel directly onto your teeth so don’t have to worry about leakage or moulding your own trays.

You also get a lot more information to go off with Snow; they have hundreds of reviews across Amazon and Trustpilot. Our full review of Snow has more details, or you can check out their products on their website.

GlamWhite teeth whitening kit: Conclusion

It’s hard to know what to make of GlamWhite. The company has been around for a while, but it has a glaring hole where its online presence should be. It’s strange to find so few reviews for a product that has been on sale for so long.

The pricing seems somewhere between disorganised and unfair, with huge disparity between different outlets. Their kits should deliver visible results since they use a scientifically backed whitening agent. However, the chances of you achieving the 7-12 shades they talk about are slim. If you’re not happy with the results, it’s unclear how you’d go about getting your money back – or if this is even something they offer.

For the price of the kit on Amazon, perhaps it’s no big deal if you only get a couple of shades whiter.
